SEO copywriting
SEO Copywriting for search engines is an important skill that ensures that the website content makes sense to the human visitor, but also is attractive to search engine spiders as they rank your website against your competitors’ site. It is not just about key word density but also the number of keywords you try to target on each page, we recommend no more than 3 - 4 key words per page, along with variations of those words. The remaining copy also has to make sense. Search engines are trying to find the best response to a searcher’s query, and try to present the best result to answer their query.
The search engines continuously change the algorithm that search engine spiders use to rank websites. Whatever else they use, one of the key onsite factors that search engines use is content. Google stresses that “content is king”, and that it will always try to deliver the most relevant response to a searcher’s query. Therefore it is important that your website content is constructed by experts to ensure that your age is the one Google presents.
So what sort of things affect on-site SEO:
- Title Tag – This is one of the most important parts of the coding at the moment. It is this that Google uses to define the content of the page. It is important that you do not use key phrases in the title tag that are not on the page.
- Description – The meta description does not affect your search position on Google, but it is still useful. This description is displayed with title tag in the search results. It is therefore an important part of your marketing to the searcher, as it can be used to encourage them to click on your result. It is a forgotten tool in SEO copywriting, as it is traditional marketing.
- Headings – We help the spiders to understand the relevance of your page and its content by the way we put together the HTML structure of the page. We use the standard H1, H2, H3 title tags to explain the relative importance of your content.
- The Content - Your copy read should read easily for the human searcher but also include the relevant key phrases – but in context. The keyword phrases should be used early in the first paragraph, but not in an artificial way. Remember the poor human site s-visitor and use variations and associated phrases instead of constantly repeating the key phrase.
- In hyperlinks –Link building on and off the site is essential to good SEO. Each of your major pages should link to other internal pages using the main keyword phrase from at least one of key page in the site.
